Part Three in the Whicker's World series "A Fast Boat to China" looks at the Asaro mud men. Once it was said the people of the village fled for their lives when attacked by neighbouring tribesmen and hid in a river. When they emerged they were covered in grey mud and the enemy, believing them ghosts returning to avenge their dead, ran in terror. The village was never attacked again.
