Putting the sun to work.
- Videocassette (VHS)(ca. 25 min.) : sd., col., 1/2 in.
Since the advent of the industrial age, man has turned to the earth for his primary source of energy but for most of its energy, the earth has always turned towards the sun. The sun is the source of energy for our solar system. Its energy production staggers the imagination. Every year the sun delivers enough energy to the earth's surface to satisfy the present needs of all of mankind for more than 10,000 years. Why then are we worried about an energy crisis? Throughout America most of the power needed to heat buildings, light cities, and energise industry is provided by central power plants. They consume vast quantities of fossil fuels, coal, oil, or gas to produce electricity, and pollutants. Imagine a power plant producing energy from sunlight, energy without pollution.
