This is the story of Jakupa, a traditional artist from the highlands of Papua New Guinea. Without any formal education or art training, he is pioneering a new form of painting based on the myths of his traditional culture. Jakupa's life is divided between his traditional village home and the world of art in a rapidly changing country. He is one of the first Papua New Guinean artists to have held an exhibition overseas, and when he attends the opening of his exhibition in Canberra, he will be the first person from his village to have visited Australia.
