Every highway contractor has equipment problems. Figuring production is one of them. How close he figures yardage output or pavement placed is important. It could mean getting or losing a job. It could mean making or losing money. The Bureau of Public Roads has an interest in these problems. Why? Because Federal money is used for construction. In recent years, the Bureau has made stopwatch studies and measured output of over 400 shovels, scrappers, hotmix plants, pavers, and other key pieces of equipment. This film highlights some of the findings, it shows where time is lost, it shows good practices and it shows trouble spots.
