More than half the world's people don't have safe water to drink. In many parts of the world any water at all is welcome though it almost always carries dangerous bacteria and parasites. Nonetheless people will walk miles to fetch a few bucketsful from a well or drying river bed and often a third of the villager's time is spent finding water.
